Furniture Repair FAQ

Estimates

We can give estimates if pictures are sent to us via email or text. We don’t do in person estimates at this time but plan to soon! We provide online estimates for free, but written estimates for insurance purposes come with a $100 fee, applicable to future work.

Time Frame

We are generally booking 60 days out but if its a smaller job we may be able to squeeze it in. Most jobs stay with us for 12-16 days. We take the appropriate time for drying between coats and ensuring good work has been done. Rushing it never pans out.

Price Changes

Once a piece arrives at our shop it is inspected and often other issues are found during the work. Plan for a 5-20% increase depending upon condition, age and wear. Often we don’t know what shape something is in until we take it apart.

What We Do ( and don’t do)

Refinishing

Stripping, conditioning, various oiling processes (Tung/Danish/Teak), stain matching, clear coating and HVLP gun painting.

Cane and Weaving

Sheet cane replacement and woven furniture (seagrass/rush/rope). We don’t work on wicker, rattan or by the hole strand caning.

Upholstery

We provide basic chair upholstery services like dining chairs, wood framed side chairs and stools. We currently don’t recover large sofas, wingback chairs or any recliners.

Fine Print

Abandoned Items

Anything left in the shop for more than 180 days will become property of the shop. We don’t have space but will house items in emergency situations for a few weeks. Things happen. But once its been half a year we move on.

Deposits & Payment

Dependent upon job scope we charge 20% deposit to book dates on our calendar. After 48 hours of booking a cancellation results in loss of deposit.

Payment for work is due on pickup. We accept cash, credit cards and local checks.

Is My Item Safe?

We are insured for value of items up to $5000 through our business policy. Our building has an alarm and we have security cameras, commercial locks and are on a well lit, well traveled street.
